Platelet-rich plasma.
Your blood. Concentrated. Returned to the tissue.
Autologous PRP for tendinopathy, ligament injury, mild-to-moderate joint osteoarthritis, and select spine indications — the goal is to support tissue healing, not just mask pain.
A biologic injection from your own platelets.
PRP is prepared by drawing a small volume of your blood, processing it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets several-fold above baseline, and injecting that concentrate back into a damaged tendon, ligament, or joint. Platelets carry hundreds of growth factors and signaling molecules that orchestrate healing — the idea is to deliver them in higher concentration directly to a tissue that is struggling to heal itself.
Same-day procedure with ultrasound guidance.
A vial of blood is drawn from your arm. While it processes — typically twenty to thirty minutes — we prepare the injection site. Under ultrasound guidance, the concentrate is injected precisely into the target tissue: tendon enthesis, ligament fiber, or joint space. Most appointments take an hour total. No sedation. You drive yourself home.
For select tendinopathies, ligament injuries, and mild-to-moderate arthritis.
The strongest evidence for PRP is in lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), patellar tendinopathy, gluteal tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, and knee osteoarthritis. Evidence is also reasonable for partial rotator cuff tears, mild hip arthritis, and select ankle ligament injuries. PRP is not appropriate for advanced bone-on-bone arthritis, complete tendon ruptures, or systemic inflammatory arthritis.
Effect builds over weeks. Multiple injections may be needed.
Expect mild soreness for several days after injection — the desired inflammatory response is itself part of the mechanism. We typically avoid anti-inflammatory medications for two weeks to allow that response to proceed. Improvement builds over four to twelve weeks. Many tendinopathies respond to a single injection; arthritis often benefits from a series of two or three over several months.
