Vertebral compression fracture.
Same-day relief is often possible.

Collapse of the front of a spinal vertebra — most often from osteoporosis — produces sudden, severe, focal back pain. Targeted intervention can change the trajectory immediately.

Who It's For

If this is you, we can help.

Sudden onset of severe, focal back pain. Often after a minor lifting incident or even a sneeze. Pain worse with movement, sometimes relief lying still. Loss of height over time if multiple fractures have occurred. Often a known history of osteoporosis.

What to Expect

Your first visit.

Examination identifying the level of focal tenderness. Imaging — often MRI — to confirm the fracture and assess its age. Evaluation of the underlying bone health. Discussion of bracing, kyphoplasty, and parallel management of the underlying osteoporosis.

Treatment Options

Stabilize the fracture. Treat the underlying bone disease.

Bracing and short-term pain management for stable, well-tolerated fractures. For painful acute or subacute fractures not improving with conservative care, kyphoplasty is a same-day procedure that often produces dramatic, immediate pain relief. Simultaneously, we work with primary care or endocrinology to address the underlying osteoporosis — preventing the next fracture is as important as treating this one.
